Course overview:

This intensive course provides law enforcement officers with the foundational knowledge, discipline, and practical skills required to operate as a designated police sniper in support of tactical and critical incident operations. Instruction is grounded in real-world law enforcement mission sets, with emphasis on observation, precision marksmanship, target discrimination, and integration with tactical teams during high-risk events.

 

The course is designed to develop officers who can operate within a command structure, support incident objectives, and apply precision force consistent with policy, law, and agency standards. Upon completion, students will possess the core competencies required to function as a police sniper across a range of operational conditions and deployment environments.

 

Course Objectives:

  • Tactical employment of the law enforcement sniper during SWAT and critical incident operations

  • Mission planning and coordination within an incident command structure and use-of-force framework

  • Precision rifle marksmanship fundamentals including rifle setup, zeroing, and positional shooting

  • Observation, surveillance, and intelligence reporting in support of tactical decision-making

  • Application of ballistics, wind reading, and environmental factors for accurate engagements

  • Range estimation and target engagement at known and unknown distances

  • Shooter/spotter communication and integration with tactical teams and command elements

  • Scenario-based exercises reflecting real-world law enforcement sniper deployments

  • Deliver precise, accountable fire under time pressure and environmental stress

  • Collect and communicate actionable intelligence during critical incidents
