Rapid Deployment: LPVO
$575.00
Location: Heber, AZ
Training Facility: Sierra 1 Site
Ammo load out: 500 carbine rounds
This course is designed to understand and explore the versatility of your carbines' LPVO optic and reticle. During the course students will receive instruction and demonstrations regarding the LPVO and the different limitations and advantages of the optic. Attendees will implement different techniques taught at various stages and courses of fire at Sierra 1 Site, to include scenario based training and rapid employment training lanes.
Course Overview:
This specialized course is designed to develop the rifleman’s ability to effectively utilize Low Power Variable Optic (LPVO) systems in both close-quarters and extended engagements. LPVOs bridge the gap between red dot speed and magnified precision, and this course teaches the shooter how to fully exploit that versatility under real-world conditions.
Course Objectives:
Optic Setup and Configuration:
-Mounting techniques, torque specs, and zeroing procedures
-Understanding reticle subtensions, BDC (bullet drop compensator) usage, and illumination settings
-First focal plane (FFP) vs. second focal plane (SFP) performance
LPVO Manipulation & Transitions:
-Rapid magnification changes using throw levers or cat tails
-Indexing magnification for environmental conditions or mission role
-Close-quarters engagement at 1x vs. precision shots at 6x or higher
Marksmanship Fundamentals:
-Rifle shooting mechanics: grip, stance, recoil control, trigger press
-Holdovers, wind calls, and range estimation using the reticle
Positional shooting:
-Standing, kneeling, prone, barricade-supported
Close-to-Mid-Range Engagements:
-Shooting drills at varying distances
-Transitioning between threat distances with appropriate magnification and reticle holds
-Time-on-target reduction under simulated stress
Tactical Application:
-Movement-to-contact drills
-Use of cover and unconventional shooting positions
Performance Outcomes:
-Shooters will be confident in deploying their LPVO-equipped rifles across a spectrum of tactical environments.
-Participants will demonstrate proficiency in magnification adjustment, reticle usage, and rapid engagement at both CQB and distance ranges.
-Graduates will leave with a deeper understanding of how to tailor their optic settings for mission demands.
Recommended Equipment:
-Rifle with a properly mounted LPVO (minimum 1-4x; ideally 1-6x, 1-8x, or 1-10x)
-Duty vest or battle belt to carry magazines and other equipment.
More information will be sent out to participants upon registration in a welcome packet. This will include the equipment packing list, training location, and other important information.
