LPVO Employment (February 5-7 2027)

This three-day course is designed to develop a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities, limitations, and practical employment of carbine-mounted Low Power Variable Optic (LPVO) systems.

Students will receive focused instruction on optic setup, zeroing, reticle use, magnification management, ballistic holds, range estimation, and practical application across a wide range of shooting distances. Classroom instruction and demonstrations will be reinforced through progressive live-fire drills, movement exercises, positional shooting, and rapid-employment lanes conducted throughout Sierra 1 Site.

LPVO-equipped carbines offer the ability to transition efficiently between close-range speed and extended-range precision. This course is designed to help students fully exploit that versatility through proper optic configuration, efficient manipulation, strong marksmanship fundamentals, and practical application under time and performance pressure.

Students should arrive comfortable with safe weapon handling with basic marksmanship, reloads, and operation of their carbine. 

Training includes:

• LPVO & rifle setup
• Understanding LPVO capabilities, limitations, and optic selection considerations
• Efficient magnification management
• Rapid transitions between close-range and extended-distance engagements
• LPVO reticle use for holdovers, wind corrections, and range estimation
• Refinement of rifle marksmanship fundamentals
• Positional and supported shooting
• Close- to mid-range engagements under time constraints
• LPVO in confined space (CQB)
• Practical application through movement and scenario-based drills
• Rapid deployment and employment of the LPVO-equipped carbine
• Low light LPVO utilization

Recommended Equipment

• Carbine with a properly mounted LPVO and mounted light
• Minimum magnification range of 1-4x; 1-6x, 1-8x, or 1-10x recommended
• Rifle sling
• Minimum of 3 rifle magazines
• Magazine pouches or load-bearing equipment
• Plate carrier, chest rig, or battle belt
• Eye and ear protection

Training Facility: Sierra 1 Site

Lodging: Our free onsite camping area has plenty of space for tents, vehicles, and mid-size trailers. Bring your own dinner and drinks and join instructors and fellow students around the campfire after training.

Ammo Loadout: 800 carbine rounds
