This course is designed to give officers scenario based training to assist in situational awareness and effective weapon employment. During the course students will receive instruction and demonstrations regarding the different limitations and advantages of their weapon system. Attendees will implement different techniques taught at various stages and courses of fire at Sierra 1 Site to include scenario based trainnig and competitive interactive training lanes.
Course Overview:
This intensive training is designed to prepare law enforcement personnel to rapidly and effectively respond to active threats such as active shooters, terrorism-related incidents, or mass casualty events. The course emphasizes speed, coordination, communication, and decisive action in high-stress, time-critical situations—often before the arrival of specialized tactical units.
Course Objectives:
Threat Recognition & Decision Making:
Identifying active threat indicators and understanding the dynamics of active shooter and mass casualty events
Threat assessment and prioritization under pressure
Use of force decision-making in real time
Immediate Action Rapid Deployment (IARD) Tactics:
Four- and two-officer contact team formations
Solo officer response protocols
Room entry and target interdiction under stress
Tactical Communications:
Intra-team and inter-agency communication strategies
Dispatch and command coordination during evolving threats
Radio discipline and common tactical language for rapid information sharing
Live Fire and Simunition-Based Training:
High-stress shoot/no-shoot scenarios
Target identification and engagement under movement
Immediate threat neutralization drills in confined spaces
Building and Environment Familiarization:
Clearing and holding structures
Tactical movement in complex environments
Breach and containment considerations for rapid entry
Command & Control:
Leadership during rapidly evolving threats
Establishing command posts and hot/warm/cold zones
Coordinating reinforcements, containment, and evacuation
Performance Outcomes:
Officers will demonstrate the ability to safely and effectively respond to an active threat with minimal personnel.
Trainees will understand and execute rapid entry tactics and interior building movements under duress.
Officers will integrate tactical communication and medical response within a unified team framework.
-The drills and curriculum in this course are direct replicas of Elite SWAT and Special Operations Forces pre-deployment drills and training techniques.
-Must be in good physical standing in order to conduct specific physical requirements and mobility exercises. This course will challenge your individual weapons fundamentals and competency.
